Welcome
Waters View is a residential home, registered for fifteen Residents. We offer full time residential care, dementia care, end of life care, care on a respite basis and day care. We have a dedicated team of carers and, being a small home, trusting relationships are soon created between residents and staff and residents soon become familiar with the carers thus giving confidence and putting residents and families at ease. Our team are extensively experienced and have achieved a multitude of qualifications. We employee the highest standards of Care Assistants.
The Home
Waters View was originally a private house, built in 1968. In 1989 it was converted to a Residential Home with rooms for ten residents, more recent conversion works have increased the accommodation to fifteen.
Situated in the delightful rural setting of Little Oakley, where there is a village store and public house, it is only a short drive into Dovercourt with its Blue Flag beach and town with shopping facilities. We are also on direct bus routes from Colchester, Harwich, Clacton and Manningtree. The house is south facing with far reaching sea views from the front of the Home across the backwaters towards Walton on the Naze.

Team
We have a well-trained, experienced and loyal Care team, many of whom have been at Waters View for many years.
Waters View is owned by Claire Bird and her family, purchased from the long-standing Bradshaw family, in November 2019. Claire has over twenty years’ experience in the Social Care sector.
Claire is the Registered Manager of Waters View, starting her time here as the Home Manager, employed by the previous Proprietors since April 2019. Claire holds her Level 4 Registered Manager’s Award. Claire is present and oversees the running of the Home on a daily basis and is assisted by her family.
Ellie Bird, Claire’s Daughter, works full time alongside her, with her Husband, Paul, and her Son, Scott close by for all maintenance work.
Ellie holds a Law Degree and is currently studying her Level 5 Leadership and Management in Adult Social Care.
There are three Senior Carers. Sharon and Toni are our Day Care Seniors, and they lead the day shift team. Luke is our new Night Senior, leading the night team, with support from Claire and Toni as needed while we recruit for a second Night Senior. They are responsible for the home in the Management's absence and are all at least NVQ Level 2 qualified. All our Senior team are trained above the mandatory requirements in areas such as medication, first aid, fire awareness, record keeping and care planning. They also organise the day-to-day delivery of care to the Residents and support the care staff in their development.
There are seven further Care Assistants, who deliver care to our residents under the guidance of the Management and Seniors. Most of these have been with us for a number of years so they too know the Home, Staff, Residents and Families well. Many hold NVQs in Health and Social Care and the Social Care Certificate. As well as the mandatory training, many do extra courses in areas such as anxiety, pressure sore care, challenging behaviour and dementia.
We have a key-worker system which teams up each resident with one of the staff who is then responsible for overseeing the cleaning and maintenance of the Resident’s environment, giving the Resident a specific person, they know they can rely on. They are also responsible for liaising with the Senior responsible for the care plan to make sure that is always fully up to date with likes and dislikes.
We have two cooks, who provide home cooked meals, made from fresh local produce and keep the kitchen up to regulation standards. With all our cooking on site we can cater for everyone’s needs, likes and concentrate on good quality food and snacks to ensure weight maintenance and usually gain with all their yummy cakes!
We have Paul, our handyman, who carries out small general repairs and maintenance of the building and grounds. He will also be pleased to help you personalise your room, such as hanging pictures on your walls, etc.
Laundry is done by the care staff. Please ensure all clothing is colour fast, machine washable with the resident’s initials or name on them before admission.
Although all staff have specific roles and responsibilities, the emphasis at Waters View is very much on team-working towards the common goal of providing the very best, person-centred care to our Residents, enabling them to maintain their dignity and respect.
